Edgewise is a poker trainer. It teaches with simulated hands against computer opponents, and nothing in it involves real money. Here is the short version; the full terms below are the ones that count.
In short
-
Simulated play only
No real-money gambling, nothing to win, and no promise you’ll win at real tables.
-
18 and over
You must be 18 or older and old enough to view simulated gambling where you live.
-
Pro renews until you cancel
Yearly and Monthly renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.
-
Apple handles billing
Payments, cancellations and refunds all go through your Apple Account.
Agreeing to these terms
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Purpose Brands (“Purpose Brands”, “we”, “us” or “our”), the publisher of Edgewise: Poker Trainer (“Edgewise” or “the app”). They cover the app, the Edgewise Pro upgrade and this website, edgewiseapp.co.
By downloading or using Edgewise, you agree to these Terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle data. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use Edgewise.
Who can use Edgewise
Edgewise is rated 18+ on the App Store because it contains simulated gambling. You may use it only if you are at least 18 years old and old enough under the laws where you live to use apps with simulated gambling content.
If you are under the age of majority where you live (19 or 21 in a few places), a parent or legal guardian must review and agree to these Terms for you.
Simulated play only
- Training, not gambling. Every hand in Edgewise is simulated against computer opponents. You cannot wager real money in the app, and Edgewise does not offer, promote or link to real-money gambling.
- Nothing to win. Chips, scores, streaks and statistics have no monetary value. They cannot be bought, sold, transferred or cashed out, and there are no prizes.
- Not gambling advice. Strategy charts, grades and coaching are general education about how poker works. They are not professional, financial or gambling advice, and they do not tell you whether, where or how much to gamble.
- No guarantee of results. Poker involves chance. Training may improve your decisions, but we do not promise that you will win, or win more, at any real game.
- Your responsibility. If you play real-money poker, you are responsible for following the laws where you live and for playing within your means.
If gambling stops being fun
Free, confidential help is available. In the US, the National Council on Problem Gambling can connect you with support near you; in the UK, contact GamCare. Elsewhere, look for a local problem gambling service.
Your licence to use Edgewise
Edgewise is licensed, not sold, to you. When you get Edgewise from the App Store, your licence to use the app is governed by Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”) together with these Terms. In short, the Standard EULA lets you use Edgewise on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as allowed by the App Store’s Usage Rules, including through Family Sharing. These Terms add details specific to Edgewise and cover this website and anything the Standard EULA does not address. If they conflict with the Standard EULA about your licence to use the app, the Standard EULA prevails.
Unless the law allows it despite this restriction, you may not:
- copy, modify, translate, rent, lease, lend, sell, sublicense or redistribute the app or its content;
- reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the app, or try to extract its source code or data, such as its strategy charts, lessons or glossary;
- remove or alter any copyright, trademark or other notices;
- get around Edgewise Pro, purchase checks or any other technical limits; or
- use the app, its content or this website to build a competing product, or scrape them with automated tools.
Edgewise Pro and payments
Free and Pro
Much of Edgewise is free, including every lesson and game, the glossary, the 6-max opening ranges, the outs and pot-odds drills, small blind versus big blind push/fold, progress tracking and the leak finder, and 10 hands a day at the table. Edgewise Pro unlocks every preflop spot and format, push/fold from every seat, unlimited table play, the expert drills and leak drills in every spot. We keep improving Edgewise, so what each tier includes may change over time.
Plans and prices
| Plan | US price | Billing | Free trial |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yearly | $39.99 a year | Auto-renewing subscription, billed yearly | 1 week, for new subscribers |
| Monthly | $7.99 a month | Auto-renewing subscription, billed monthly | None |
| Lifetime | $79.99 once | One-time purchase, not a subscription | None |
These are US App Store prices. Prices in other countries are set in local currency, may vary and may include tax. The price shown in the app when you buy is the price you pay.
Lifetime gives you Edgewise Pro, with no further payments, for as long as we offer and support Edgewise.
Free trial
The Yearly plan comes with a one-week free trial for new subscribers. Apple decides who is eligible; generally, each Apple Account can get the introductory offer once. If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it becomes a paid yearly subscription and your Apple Account is charged.
If you allow notifications, Edgewise schedules a reminder on your device two days before your trial ends. The reminder is a courtesy: you remain responsible for cancelling in time. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
Billing and automatic renewal
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm your purchase, or at the end of the free trial.
- Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends.
- If the price of your subscription goes up, Apple will tell you in advance and, where required, ask you to agree before you are charged the new price.
Managing and cancelling
You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in your Apple Account settings: on iPhone or iPad, open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions. In Edgewise you can also go to Settings → Manage subscription. When you cancel, the subscription stops renewing and you keep Pro until the end of the period you have paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription, and buying Lifetime does not cancel an existing subscription either, so cancel it yourself to avoid further charges.
Refunds
Apple processes every payment, so refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot see your payment details, issue refunds, or cancel subscriptions for you. If Apple refunds a purchase, the Pro access it paid for ends. Nothing in these Terms affects any right you have to a refund under the law where you live.
Restoring and sharing Pro
Pro belongs to the Apple Account that bought it. To use it on another iPhone or iPad signed in with the same Apple Account, open Edgewise and choose Settings → Restore purchases. Where Apple’s Family Sharing is available for Edgewise Pro, family members can use it under Apple’s Family Sharing rules.
Acceptable use
Please use Edgewise for what it is: learning poker. You agree not to:
- use Edgewise in any way that breaks the law or anyone else’s rights;
- use Edgewise for real-time help while playing real-money games where the game’s rules or the law forbid it;
- interfere with or disrupt the app, this website or the services they rely on, or try to access them without permission;
- introduce malware or attempt to probe, scan or test their security; or
- pretend to be Purpose Brands, or suggest you are connected with us when you are not.
Intellectual property
Edgewise and this website, including the software, design, text, lessons, glossary, strategy charts, graphics and sounds, are owned by Purpose Brands or its licensors and protected by copyright and other laws. Apart from the licence described above, these Terms do not give you any rights in them. Edgewise and the Edgewise logo are trademarks of Purpose Brands. Apple, App Store, iPhone and iPad are trademarks of Apple Inc. Poker strategy ideas themselves belong to no one; our particular charts, lessons and explanations are ours.
If you send us suggestions or feedback, we may use them to improve Edgewise without any obligation to you.
Third-party services
Edgewise relies on services from other companies, including Apple (the App Store and payments), RevenueCat (managing purchases) and PostHog (anonymous usage analytics). Your use of the App Store is also subject to Apple’s own terms. Links to other websites are provided for convenience; we are not responsible for their content or practices.
Disclaimers
Our strategy charts are simplified from solver results, and the coach grades your play against models of computer opponents. They are a sound way to learn, but they are approximations, may contain errors, and are not the only good way to play. We update them as we improve Edgewise.
To the fullest extent the law allows, Edgewise and this website are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not promise that Edgewise will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that its content will always be accurate or complete. Some places do not allow these exclusions, so some of them may not apply to you.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Purpose Brands will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill, or any money lost gambling or playing real-money games, arising from or related to your use of, or inability to use, Edgewise or this website.
To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim relating to Edgewise is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for Edgewise Pro in the 12 months before the claim arose, or US$50.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, or your rights as a consumer under the law where you live.
Changes to Edgewise and ending these terms
We may change, suspend or stop offering all or part of Edgewise or this website. Where a change materially reduces what a paid plan you hold includes, we will give you reasonable notice where we can.
You can stop using Edgewise at any time by deleting it; remember to cancel any subscription through Apple. We may suspend or end your licence if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms. The sections that by their nature should continue after these Terms end, such as intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law, will continue.
Governing law and disputes
Except where the Standard EULA governs your licence to the app, these Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. The courts located in the State of Wyoming have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute relating to these Terms or Edgewise.
If you are a consumer and the law where you live gives you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts or to rely on its mandatory consumer protections, this section does not take that right away. Before starting any formal claim, please email us at support@edgewiseapp.co so we can try to resolve it informally first.
Apple is not responsible
You got Edgewise from Apple’s App Store, so the following terms also apply:
- Acknowledgement. These Terms are between you and Purpose Brands only, not Apple. Purpose Brands, not Apple, is solely responsible for Edgewise and its content. These Terms do not set usage rules that conflict with the App Store Terms of Service.
- Scope of licence. Your licence is limited to a non-transferable licence to use Edgewise on Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the App Store Terms of Service, except that other accounts associated with you through Family Sharing or volume purchasing may also access and use it.
- Maintenance and support. Purpose Brands is solely responsible for providing maintenance and support for Edgewise, as described on our Support page. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to provide maintenance or support for Edgewise.
- Warranty. Purpose Brands is solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent they are not effectively disclaimed. If Edgewise fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any, to you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for Edgewise, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses caused by a failure to conform to a warranty are Purpose Brands’ responsibility, subject to these Terms.
- Product claims. Purpose Brands, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to Edgewise or your possession or use of it, including product liability claims, claims that Edgewise fails to meet any legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
- Intellectual property. If a third party claims that Edgewise, or your possession and use of it, infringes their intellectual property rights, Purpose Brands, not Apple, is solely responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.
- Legal compliance. You confirm that you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo or that the U.S. Government has designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Developer contact. Questions, complaints or claims about Edgewise should be sent to Purpose Brands at support@edgewiseapp.co or 1309 Coffeen Ave, Sheridan, WY 82801, USA.
- Third-party terms. You must comply with any applicable third-party terms when using Edgewise, such as your mobile data plan.
- Third-party beneficiary. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms. Once you accept these Terms, Apple has the right, and is deemed to have accepted the right, to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and change the “Last updated” date at the top. If a change is significant, we will give you reasonable notice before it takes effect, for example on this website or in the app’s release notes. If you keep using Edgewise after the changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms; if you do not agree with them, stop using Edgewise and cancel any subscription.
General
- Entire agreement. These Terms, the Privacy Policy and, where it applies, the Standard EULA are the whole agreement between you and us about Edgewise.
- Severability. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- Transfer. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, as long as your rights under these Terms are not reduced.
